The birth of a blog.

It’s ironic how much meaning these historical words impress upon me. With that in mind (and a perfect pun opportunity), I proudly introduce my blog: “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Thaddeus.”

Intimate details surrounding Kieran’s medical issues have rarely been shared; in part because things evolve and change quite quickly, but more importantly, because our family has made a conscious effort and commitment to not let him be defined by his medical circumstances. The priority has always been, and will always be, to surround Kieran with love, affection, and a network of positive energy. Although he is certainly different, he is nonetheless equal; and, just like the rest of us, he deserves to be happy.

Writing is my private therapy. Over time, however, I have realized that our situation presents an amazing opportunity and we should allow its purpose to grow beyond ourselves.

We must embrace Kieran’s unique challenges because they represent a great deal more than what can be seen on the surface. By opening up about our journey, it might bring hope and guidance to other people who are struggling in silence. Transforming our hardships and sorrow into a meaningful platform that helps others is how we can honor our beloved Thaddeus Kieran.

We’ve grown so much since the onset of this roller-coaster we are on, and our medical crusade has remarkable worth. The heartwarming acts of compassion, love, and generosity demonstrate how thoughtful and inspiring human beings can be. The seemingly never ending research yields tons of untapped resources available for families in need of assistance. Most importantly, the triumphs and breakthroughs prove that the only battles you can actually consider a loss are the ones you don’t fight.

Everyone is wrestling with their own personal struggles – if we can convince even one person to keep pushing forward when they feel drained or defeated, then we have served our purpose and met the goal from creating this page.

I’ll always be a ‘work in progress’ and that means I will basically be fumbling my way through this blog process, for the most part. My vision is for posts to cover a variety of aspects… information about Kieran’s condition and updates on his progress, word vomit about the stuff that goes through my head whilst navigating uncharted territory, insight gleaned from juggling [responsibilities of being a mom, continuing a career, maintaining a social life, and advocating for a special needs child], plain ‘ol whining and venting, details and contacts for the resources we have discovered, and perhaps highlights of the “good” that’s been done in Kieran’s name.
